Locked your keys in your car???? Did you know this??

If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home,
call someone on your (or someone else's) cell phone.

Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the
other person at your home press the unlock button of your key fob
(clicker), holding it near the phone on their end. Your car doors
will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you.

Distance is no object you could be hundreds of miles away, and if
you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for your car,
you can unlock the doors (or the trunk!).

It works fine! we tried it out, it unlocked my car over the cellphone, blew my mind when i saw my lights come on and the doors unlock WOW!

That's friggin crazy I never heard of anything like that. I'm tempted to try it.

ok im definatly trying this. the damn carwash locked my keys in and i had to wait an hour for someone to bring my keys up there. how did u figure this out. where did u learn this. CRAZY

I received it in a email today, i was skeptical until i got my brother to go to his house call me on my cell with my doors locked on my car he hit the unlock button and my lights and doors unlocked blew my mind.

wowwwwwwwww, thats what im gonna be doin when my cars back on the road, that is the hottest thing i ever heard... im gonna show everybody and make myself look soooo COOOOL!

does the other person have to be on a cell phone as well, or can it be a house phone?

We used our cellphones so im not sure if you'll get the same outcome from the land line worth a try i guess.

Dont bother trying this if your anywhere in the same neighborhood as your car, i honestly dont think we were far enough away from the receiver in the car to give an honest definate answer that it works,my bad! please take it easy on me!, im going togo try this at a greater distance.

Our remote door lock keychain remote works by emitting a low-power radio signal to a receiver in our car. The signal is encrypted specifically to work with our vehicle and is very hard to duplicate. Cell phones use a higher-powered and higher-frequency radio signal (800 MHz and up, whereas our remote locks operate between 300 and 500 MHz). Cell phones transmit voice and data – they cannot "carry" other radio signals IM A DUFUS! please dont hurt me.

This is the biggest load of horse$h!t I've ever heard repeated. The keyless remotes use RF technology, which will not be transmitted over the cellular network.

This might have worked if the keyless entry remotes used a sonic technology, but they don't; the laws of physics dictate that this is not possible.

Edit: Looks like we posted at the same time, but this wasn't aimed at you in particular. I've actually heard this repeated by people (like EEs) who should know better...

Gee, if I lock my keys in the car, I just use the keypad to open the door lock. There ARE benefits in owning an 03+ LS! :)

Yeah ha ha i know im a DUFUS, thats like trying to sell ice cubes to an eskimo DUH!

Why didn't you just ask if anyone had heard about this, rather than just cut 'n' past from an email? Back when this first came out, I was actually moronish enough to go out and try it.

That is absolutely correct Sooner. My son works as a programmer for Verizon Wireless and he confirms it's impossible. Just won't work. If you want to check it out yourself, try it from several MILES away...it won't work.

For 02 and earlier cars, you can buy the Ford keypad that works like a remote. We mounted ours under the trunk lip so you can't even see it. Works like a charm. The down side is you have to go to a dealer to have it programmed...

LOL, lucky guy.You 03+ guys have it made.
When I was buying my '04, I didn't really want the keypad, but then I realized there WILL come a day when I lock my keys in the car. :)

For you guys that don't have one, Ken/LS Koncepts has them. Consider the cost of calling a locksmith once or twice and decide if it's worth it.

It wasn't a stupid post. It's been around for a couple of years now and I can promise you that MANY have tried it! If I came across as condencending, I sure didn't intend it that way and I am the one who needs to apologize...as do others. I have been around cars all my life and have taught automotive computer classes for years for OTC...I see a LOT of posts that not only seem dumb, but scary. But everyone needs to learn, so I try to keep an open mind. Don't ever be afraid to ask questions.
