little help with the famous window....

So last night windown drop all the down while rollin the windon down. great i know...so this morning took everything apart as a read on other posts(thanks) an the regulator is still workin, but.. the cable that loops around is all tangled on the spindle on the regulator.. tried to untangle it but with no luck. any ideas..??? am i gonna have to buy a whole new reg. or is there a way to take it apart an re-run the cable.

if you cant repair the regulator, then yes you will want to buy a new one.

I'm trying not to have to buy a new reg as this one is still working, its the cable that runs threw it is tangled. Is this a fixable problem or is a new one my only option.

well if you can untangle it, then you can fix it (as long as nothing broke to allow it to tangle) if you cant then you need a new regulator.

the motor never fails, its usually a small piece of plastic or something simple that breaks that causes them to need to be replaced.

I'm going to have to disagree on that. I just replaced my drivers side door not too long ago for the second time. This time, the motor was going bad. When I took it out, everything was still in place. No plastic pieces were broken or anything so I kept it. I'll probably buy a new motor and replace the motor itself because everything else is still fine.

so called around here in town.. dealership wanted 159 for regulator..autozone for 85.. so looks like i'm just gonna have to replace the whole thing, there was no way i found to untangle that cable.
