Lincoln should build a '13 LS on this platform.

touche. but here goes hoping for some kind of rwd sedan i dont care what engine drives it so long as theres 300hp or more, and does 0-60 n less than 6 secs. i can finally hang w/ some real luxury sedans instead of driving like a mad man to keep up.

If they do, they got 2 V6's with over 300 hp (3.7 with 305 and 3.5 TT with 355 and up to 400)

Also Lincoln has said they are getting their own unique V6, so who knows what they will do with that ;) :cool:

Do they go over 60k when optioned out? I think they were talking about base price. When a Mustang that's as fast as an M3 only costs 32k I honestly have a hard time expecting the Lincoln version would cost significantly more.

The LS was roughly in line with a base V8 stang, right? And it was a high 30k car when the 'Stang was a high 20k car, I'd put my money on the difference being similar to that.

Also let's be honest with ourselves, nobody would buy a 60k performance car from Lincoln. From Ford, and if that car's name is Mustang, the answer is yes, but for anything else that answer is no. (even tho Taurus SHO's have been selling very well, but that car is around the LS' price)

Comparing a CV to any non body-on-frame car is an apples to dinosaurs comparison, imo.

Even still, I wouldn't put any car into a accident like that and continue driving. No matter what it's going to be a much greater risk in the next accident.

Well the Lincoln version would have 4 doors I am guess which usually costs more ;) Plus all the Lincoln tech goodies and leather wrapped dash and such

I believe that the LS when new started around 32k and topped out at 48 with navi and wood etc
 
well in 06 i recall the ls ultimate was 60k topped out mustang was mid 30k. that said a topped out mustang GT is near mid 40's(boss). expect the new lincoln to be near the same distance putting it 50k base -70k topped which puts it square rival with the cts.

The LS topped out around the $50K mark in '06, but if you actually spent that much you probably didn't even get a reach-around...
 
Don't know what the sticker was on my '03, but the po's bought it one year old certified pre-owned for $29k.

Back on topic, I have a buddy who is an engineer at Ford, been there since the mid 80s. When rumors were swirling on here about a possible CTS-V competitor, he said no way - too small of a market for Lincoln.

You're correct that they aren't same platform, but they do share one element.

When the S197 came out for the '05 model year, MM&FF had an article documenting all the changes over the previous fox-based SN-95 platform. They mentioned that the Mustang was an all new plaform for the first time since '79 and the only structural item it shared with another model was the floor from the LS.

I have often thought about the possible compatible underpinnings between the DEW98 and the S197 and thought it would be cool to swap the drivetrain over from an '05+ GT into the LS. Nothing like that is ever easy, obviously, and you can buy some other car that is faster for the same amount or less than what the swap cost you, but to have the same suspension and engine aftermarket available as the Mustang would make a fun Franken-LS.

Since the middle of May I've literally spent all my free time at camp except for the couple weekends we were at Road America. My brother and I are building a new log cabin. By ourselves. With no previous experience:eek:

Now that winter's here, I'm sure I'll have some time for the internet again:cool:

i guess it should be taken into consideration i live in the nations capitol.
a gt500 will cost you about 75k well not these days i saw one in sheehy for 45:eek:. but for sure at the lincoln mercury kia stealership on branch ave 06" ls ultimates were 60k or less.
