Just thought i'd share this info, i recenty went to trade in my LS and was shocked that my '05 LS Ultimate was only worth $8k on a trade. I thought maybe the dealer was giving me the shaft but if you go to KBB.com and look up the value it is indeed worth $8k as a trade, the other values are slightly higher. Now i know there are several different places to get the value of your car and they all vary, but it seems the value of the LS especially the V8 versions have taken a nose dive. Although i still like my LS and i'm not considering trading it at this present time, i am upside down now as far as value and what i owe, and i managed a pretty good deal when i bought it. I have noticed there are alot of new members here who are new to their LS and although i dont know what kind of deals/prices you all have paid i would highly recommend everyone who drives a LS to get GAP insurance, unless by some lucky chance yours is paid off. Those who dont know what GAP insurance is it pays off the difference between what you owe and what the insurance company feels its value is. Again i know there are alot of variables with everyone regarding what they paid and who their insurance is etc. etc, but it seems most likely your LS's value is going to be lower than what your pay-off is. Look into it! It would suck big time to lose your LS and STILL owe on it.

Yep depreciation is depressing. This can't be the first time anyone has ever heard of the phrase "upside down on the payoff", but if it is the above is good advice. I paid $6000 cash for my recently acquired LS and some on the board have said the deal could have been better. Maybe but not around here in Montana, location does play a role in the price paid.

Speaking of depreciation, I have a couple friends who ran out and bought new convertible IROC Camaros in the mid 1990's and when the new body style came out it took $4000 off the value.

I paid 12k for mine Dec 07'. KBB it last week, trade in value 6k.

And i only put 6k miles on it since Dec 07.

Hmmm, a "clean" trade in on mine should fetch $15,125 according to NADA. An "average" trade-in is $13,750.

How many miles do you have on your car? I was interested in trading up to an '06 not too long ago and Lincoln offered me $13,500, of course, I could of probably gotten more had I decided to actually trade up...

NADA values are WAY off. Dealers use Black Book which is even lower valued than Blue Book. I was offered $10K for my 04 with 30K miles on a trade.

Most dealers I have come across use NADA.

Im coming down by you to trade in then!! It would be worth the drive for me.

Well, in Austin, we have 1 Lincoln dealership for the whole city, the LS is sometimes hard to find and they don't come as cheap as you sometimes see. I had to drive to Atlanta to pick mine up.

Wow, you must have either a really depressed LS market or a boatload of miles on your LS. Using my ZIP code, I used KBB to price an '05 LS V8 in good condition with an option list that looked like it was close to your car, and I had to go over 100,000 miles to get in the $8K range in Good condition (at 90,000 miles, it was still over $9K in Excellent condition).

Of course, it only makes sense for the LS to have a severe depreciation, given the absolute fire sale they had to get rid of the last of the '06es--when they're rolling out the door at $17K off sticker, that's a heck of a hit. :(

its american you lose value as soon as u drive it off the lot

It's a car. It's not just cause it's American. If you look at the other cars in the class the same as the LS, they all lose about the same $$$ value every year. A $60,000 car that looses $30,000 dollars after 4 years isn't much different than a $40,000 car loosing $30,000 in 4 years except as a percent of new car value. Any financial guy will tell you that you are better controlling your money up front. It would be more troubling for me if the LS cost when new was as high as the european cars with which it was competing.

The Orlando area has got a TON of LS's on the road and atleast four Lincoln dealerships that i can think of. I figure the over saturation of LS's makes the value drop alittle. Hell, a guy three houses down from me now has the same model as mine except white. They are everywhere around here. I have 87k miles on the LS which is alittle above average seeing it was put on the road in Nov. '04.
