Ok, I was driving my 2000 Lincoln LS v8 into the grocery store parking lot and i just wanted to see how much power the big v8 had, so i floored it and the whole car just shut off all the lights and all. After a few seconds i turned the key back on and the lights and, windows and radio came on, but the car wont even crank and the horn doesnt work. What could it be? Also, yesterday i was on the freeway and while at 70mph the car felt like it just dropped and there was no power, but a few seconds later it kicked back on, it did it a few times. Could this have anything to do with it? Oh yea, and when i floored it, my coke can spilled and got all over my leg, im not sure if it got under the cup holder or not, would this have anything to do with it?

sounds like you have an electrical problem. my current guess is voltage regulator in alternator failing and causing some sort of 'surge'. time for a trip to the dealer....ps it's a small v8 as far as v8's go:)

no offense but I doubt it. Lots of electronics in the LS and pretty much any advice you get is going to be a guessing game. For giggles check your battery connections in the trunk, your PCM connections, and your alternator connects. You're gonna wind up with a trip to the dealer.....

PS welcome:)

also could be pats system, ignition switch failure, PCM failure, FEM failure, main diode failure, etc. etc. etc....

I feel a dealer somewhere is seeing $$$$$$$$ in his eyes. Sorry but a trip to the dealer is probably the only way this type of thing will be fixed. Just hope that it is something they can catch quickly and not need an in depth diagnostics test.

Stop by Sears or a Meineke shop and see if your battery is bad. I had a 2001 Ford Taurus do the same thing (except I wasn't gunning it). Turned it off, went in the store, no go.

Alright,i figured it out and fied it. It ended up being a deodorizer can that had fallen behind my spare tire and hit a fuse monted on the back of the trunk fuse box. It wasa 165 amp fuse. $7.00 at the dealer, changed it out and everything works now. Well, thanx for the advice, figured it want anything major to begin with.....Sam

that was going to be my next suggestion. I knew it would be a deodorizer can! :)
