Lincoln LS torque converter won't lock up

2000 ls with the 5r55n tranny and 3.9L. The car runs great and shifts good but when you let off the gas it's like it goes into nuetral. I'm not to good with trannys but is there like a lock up solinoid or something?? Also when your driving it at 60mph the tach is at around 3000 rpms, is that normal?? I've read some other threads where they talk about a spring that goes out, it's like 5 bucks so i got the spring and am going to change it out this weekend. but i'm just wondering if i should also get a solinoid and if the spring is even bad?? I don't want to have to pull the valve body if i don't have to. Thanks any help is greatly apretiated.
 
check out the 5r55n sec of this doc. page 130. sounds like you may have more then one thing going on there. most of witch would be easy to fix. if its the pressure releife valve thats stuck it would be in the pump and the trans would have to come out. but i would try unhooking the harness at the trans the put it in reverse that will force full pressure and may unstick the valve before i pull it.http://pracowniaarchitektury.eu/andreas/Transmission%20Repair%20Manuals/ATRA%20Seminar%20Manuals%201990-2009/2004%20ATRA%20Seminar%20Manual.pdf do a scan first get the codes..
 
got that spring replaced

took the valve body and all that out and found the 3-4 spring was in like 4 pieces, the bore was still nice and clean thankfully. I will have to give what you we're telling me a try tommarow when i put it all back together. i did scan it for codes before and i was unable to get any.
