I own a 2000 Lincoln Ls and about two days ago i was leaving my job to go home and it didnt start. now this happened before but it always started like 5 minutes later after i kept trying. But this time I tried like 10 times to start it and nothing happened. Now when i try to start it the fuse box in the engine clicks but it only three of the fuses that click. I tried to jump it two seperate times but it never starts. It wont even attempt to turn over only the fuse box starts clicking again. At first ppl were saying that maybe the starter or the seloniod were bad but since they arent the things that are clicking. They now think that it has something to do with the fuses maybe. Also the lights and the radio work fine they arent dimming at all. So i dont really think that its the battery. Any input will be appreciated thanks.

It could be the relay is stuck or shot.

A couple of years ago we had a storm and a tree fell across the cab of my truck. I couldn't get it to start after I removed the tree and the truck displayed those same symptoms. I removed the relay, examined it, determined that it wasn't shot, put it back in and it fired right up. never had another problem with it after that.

So it's an easy and cheap thing to check...

I had an issue once where my LS wouldn't start. It also clicked when I turned the key... this clikcing is relays cutting power to things like the radio, AC fan, etc., while the engine cranks. Using the keyfob to unlock the doors fixed my problem, even though the doors were not locked in the first place. Strange. I guess the security system must have been armed and had disabled the starter.

very weird. During my lunch break i webt home to examine it somemore and i thought that maybe if i switch the fuses around that had the same voltage in the fuse box that is in the engine. So i found out which one was the fuse for the starter solenoid ( i guess the seloniod has a fuse and a relay even though the manual said that the starter relay by the passenger door so i took off the cover to find that the spot that was supposed to have the relay the relay was missing. So im not sure if this is normal or not cause i dont think that there was ever a plug in that spot) so i took the fuse for the wiper motor and put it in the spot for the starter fuse, and it started right up four seperate times So then i had the bright idea an switch the fuses back since the wiper's were still working. Since i thought that they shouldnt be since i used the fuse from the original starter fuse and i thoguht that fuse was bad. and when i switched them back the car would not start. So i switched them back again and nothing no start ( i would of thought that if i was just getting luck eveytime that it would only start up once). So i went to pepboys to buy new fuses and i told them what was going on and they said that it sounds like the relay is bad since they are clicking. This is very weird.

Srry for the long message.

I am having the same problem. Two relays under the hood in the fuse box, one for the ac and 1 for the starter, I switched them and havent had a problem since. Now my ac is having the same problem. I will be replacing both relays tomorrow or the next day.
