I bought my 06 ls v8 about three and a half months ago. Unfortunately, it has been at the dealership for two of those three and a half months now. I started noticing funny patterns in the shifting. would shift whenever it wanted even withough changing the pressure on the gas pedal. Sometimes it wouldnt down shift after stops etc...... the dealership said it was the instrument cluster and they would have to order it. However, there are no companies out there aparently that re-manufacture this part and they cannot get out. has anyone else out there had this problem? also any other major issues i should be concerned about with the car? very frustrating:mad:

I also have a Black 06 Ls, No issues, 100,000 kms/ 60k miles.
hope you can sort it out, check coils as previously mentioned. Have you had a tranny service? Best Eric

definitely sounds like coils. if i were you i would go tell them to check them if they havent. if it is the coils you shouldnt have to pay for anything.

i have 90 miles left on my factory warranty. so its still covered thank God. they "said" they tested the cluster and it was bad. idk how they do that. but it its under warranty i dont think they would be taking them this long as they are paying enterprise for me to drive a DODGE. however, i never thought of the coils. how or why might that effect things? i will ask them... just curious

honestly, what do you think in the intrustment cluster that could have an effect on the shifting? the instrument cluster is just a message board, telling you certain things while lite up, they can dianos the cluster, but with what you complaining about doesnt seem to fit with the instrument cluster

Could also be the solenoid pack, pump, torque converter or low/high fluid.

I know this is an older thread, but I too was told I needed an instrument cluster, and like you I thought otherwise. I have narrowed my issues down to the PCM. I am told covered by factory warranty, so I am thankful for that. I hope it fixes all my issues (trans slip/shifts, instrument cluster, and poor fuel economy).
