Hey guys,

I have a 2006 Lincoln LS and it makes this weird noise even when the car is off.

I had a 2005 Lincoln LS V8 before this and it also did the same thing but I'm just curious to know what it is. I've been told it's something to do with the location of the Anti-freeze and it bubbles up, but I'd like some more opinions. Thanks!

That's one of the climate control air doors moving. It's normal for all/most of the them to move some for several minutes after shutdown (and while operating). However, it sounds like one of yours has a problem, since it shouldn't be going back and forth that much. The DATC self-test should be able to tell you which one it is.

it sounds like a couple of gnomes are going to pound town inside of your dash.

thats gonna be a hard mess to clean up.

Mine does the same thing and its annoying as **** , I jst put the music up lol , after its off I dnt really care but I always wondered what it was

I'm not a Lincoln tech...but that sure sounds as if one of the actuator doors is hanging up...I have performed the traction/idle reset where you have to sit in the car for 2 minutes...and the climate doors always reset 2 minutes after shutdown, most times after I have already exited the car..however yours sounds like it is confused...just a humble opinion.

I wonder if a "hard software reset" (like disconnecting the negative side of the battery for 2 or more minutes) will reset and correct the issue. Of course, all other engine and transmission functions will need to go through the "re-learn" process while driving, but that's no big deal.

Nope. This is an actuator that isn't able to move all the way to the position that the climate control wants it in. Do the self test and find out which actuator it is. They do fail now and then. Also, when you exit the self test, the DATC does a hard reset.

The actuator doors are remarkably loud even when they are working right. I can usually hear mine klunk open or klunk shut. Although with any amount of road noise or radio they pretty much get drowned out.

I did the DATC test and after it was completed the noise almost completely went away
