Lincoln LS coolant in bellhousing Help!

I have a 2001 LS V8,which recently overheated all of the sudden, I have found coolant in the bell housing. Has anyone experienced this, any information is appreciated

Searching is normally good advice, but I don't recall reading about this particular problem in the LS. I don't know how you'd get coolant in the bellhousing, though.

Are you sure you are seeing coolant and not trans fluid? If it's coolant, the only thing I could think would be either a cracked block or maybe head/head gasket and the coolant is dripping down the back side and seeping into the bellhousing? My vote is head gasket

I have followed tranny threads pretty closely and can't say I've read anything about coolant in the bellhousing

I was unable to find any threads reagrding thisd problem. Yes it is coolant, I'm wondering if there are any plugs (threaded or otherwise) in the back of the block that would be covered by the trans.

From the drawing I saw in AllDataDIY, which was far from clear, it appears that there are three plugs on the back of the block that would be inside the bellhousing. If it's coming from the head gaskets, it would have to be seeping through the gap between the bellhousing and the block; it doesn't appear that the heads mate to the block in proximity to the bellhousing.

The plugs look like they're press-fit, so I wouldn't expect them to be on the coolant galleys, but it's hard to tell from that line drawing.

I dont understand this. What made you look inside the bellhousing in the first place? How are you able to see coolant? I know there is supposed to be a rubber cap on there, perhaps its gone and water is somehow getting in there and giving the appearence of coolant? I just dont see how its physically possible to get coolant inside the bellhousing.
