Hey, Folks.
My '06 LS went into limp mode, out of the blue. It seemed to be running very well prior.
A friend brought a scanner by to see what codes were logged, but nothing came up...showed no codes, what so ever.
What are we doing wrong?
Any information, or ideas you are able to share with me will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you EDIT* We think now that the battery is shot. Could a bad battery cause limp mode?

Please define what you mean by "limp mode."
ETC failsafe? Transmission? FEM? Just isn't running well?

You need a Ford specific scanner or Forscan to get the codes that your friends scanner can't get to.

If you think the battery is dead, replace it. Very strange things happen to these cars on weak batteries.

Right, sorry...the dash read "Engine Power Reduced" and it ran quite rough. Nearly all warnings came on and stayed lit, except the battery/charging system lights, ironically. It would start very poorly, which is the only reason I even looked at the battery. It was over 5 years old, had it tested and it was done for.
Put in a new battery last night, now it's like nothing happened. Hopefully that was it, but it seems too good to be true. I'll have it inspected and see about getting myself a Forscan

Good to hear! I've heard this a few times, lol. It's especially crazy when the battery charging system lamps are the only ones not lit! Just be sure that your charging system is operating correctly, or the new battery won't be too good, once it ends up running low voltage, like near 12. If you are seeing 13.8 while running, you should be good to go.
