Lights......again(sorry!)

Hey guys. I want to know what my options are.
1) I see the Gen 2 cars headlight lenses are clear- are there lights like them for the gen 1 cars?
2) If not, are there any issues with making a pair of clear lenses and using the original gen 1 reflectors and housings?
3) People are using the trimbrite chrome tape- does it last well and does it need any extra adhesive?
4) What are the best bulbs for output?
5) Anybody running driving lights/fog lights and where are they mounted?

There are clear lenses for Gen 1 cars. The HID housings found on late 95 LSC's and all 96 LSC have these housings. The problem is they are VERY expensive, and also are now discontinued from Ford. The only place to find them is either Ebay or Car-part.com.

There have been a few people who have rebuilt the stock housings but nothing has been proven to last. (to my knowledge)

The cheapest way to get more light output is to aim your headlights slightly downward, and run your bright lights at all times.

An inexpensive option is to run a set of Fog lights behind the grill. I bought a set from walmart that even came with a remote so I didnt have to worry about wiring up a switch or anything.

There is another way to get HID's, and it is only about Half the cost of putting an LSC HID setup in. You can buy new halogen assembly's and put in an after market HID it into them.



The problem with the stock headlight housings is the the stock halogen bulbs get very hot, and over time burn the reflective material inside the headlight it self. There is a post on this board somewhere that you can complain directly to Ford about your Defective headlights.

here is how mine is done with the driving lights. my hi-beams are aimed slightly downwards and i leave them on most of the time. i need to re-aim the hella's but it's very cold so it will wait. the hella's are set to turn on with a relay on the lo-beam side. they were expensive but VERY bright.

shortly i will be replacing the headlight housings, and then going with an hid conversion.

For a few years, I had a pair of driving lights behind my grill. It worked very well, the output was significantly higher than my stock halogen lights. I wired them into my headlights so they would automatically turn on and off with my low beams. The lights behind the grill looked cool and they worked well. It only cost about $50 and it was money well spent. This is a very economic solution. The light is focused straight ahead, so it's not perfect, but it's a good option.

I have not had any of my headlights restored so I can not comment on that.

Eventually I did buy a pair of HID assemblies from a '96 LSC and replaced the halogen bulbs. This was not a cheap option. As happy as I was with the driving lights, the output of the HIDs was much better. Clearly, this would appear to be the best alternative if possible. But note, not only are the nearly impossible to find new, replacement bulbs ARE NOT available. So, when my bulbs finally burn out - I'm screwed. I'll need to retrofit an after market HID system in, rendering my current bulbs and electronics obsolete.

I put mine behind the grill and angled them out some for a wider beam area..or whatever its called.
