There's a small dome on the center front of the dash at the base of the windshield.
When I start the car a red light in the dome comes on then turns off in a few seconds.
I could find nothing in the manual to about it.
I haven't seen this on any other cars I've owned and was wondering if someone could tell me what it's for.

Ok,
Is it supposed to flash when the system is armed?
I never use the alarm system as the car is garaged at night.

i'm pretty sure the alarm is engaged when you lock the car.

It's part of the Passive Anti-Theft System, or PATS for short, which is connected with the alarm system. The light blinks when the car is locked to let you know that the system is armed, and that the alarm is active. It lights up for a few seconds when the ignition is turned on to let you know that the system is disarmed. It can also blink out error codes, the same way that the airbag light does, to let you know that something is wrong with the PATS or alarm system.

Use the TECH ARTICALS at the top of the page, go down on the left to Lincoln LS, and find your year OWNER MANUAL or one that is near your year, down load, you will find a wealth of information about your LS features.
