Here we go again.

I want to go from a raspy, drony, headache inducing exhaust to something a little more suited for long trips. Would one Magnaflow muffler in place of my X-pipe be OK, then straight pipes back? Or it would still be too loud?

Throw in a Magnaflow 2 in/2 out muffler where the resonator would go, then two more mufflers out back and your ears will like you more.

Did that same thing on the LS, and while it's not loud at all, you know it's got some exhaust work done on it. And that's with 2.5" piping from the cats back.

What's on the car now?

I just got my exhaust done last week. I have a a 2in 2out magnaflow where the resinator was and straight pipes all the way back. It sounds barely louder than stock at idle, and sounds mean when you get on it. I love it.

Drive you ass down to camden and get the QX4 from Geno... Sweeet sweet music

Wish I still lived back in NY and could just drive over to LMS. I do agree from all I have read the Twin X is what I will be doing along with Geno's mufflers come summer time.

Hey Sean..
Me and Geno were talking about this last night.
For the droning sound at least on my dual cat LS. Is that the exhaust acts like a tuning fork. You ping it and it rings and rings and rings since there isn't anything to damn or deaden the vibrations as the exhaust goes through it.

You hit a tuning for and it rings. Hold it higher on the forks and it more of a thud. etc...etc.. You get the idea.

One way to alleviate this is to attach "flat bar" (I think that's what Geno called it) from one pipe across to the other. One maybe before the X-pipe and one after. and other ~6-8 inches from that till the resonators.

It's been said that the X-pipe is definetly a more raspy sound than H-pipes so I don't know how you can reduce that.

I can't see the rear of your car, and I don't know if mark's have cutouts for tips, but if your tips point down anything more than ~40sih degrees, you'll get more cabin noise due to the sound bouncing back up.

OR!!! You can get Geno's Twin XX exhaust and call it a day!!

I hope that I helped out

My exhaust was setup as a quick chop job, I have an X-pipe and two aftermarket mufflers. I'm pretty sure the reason that it drones is because the pipe is touching the bottom of the car. The reason is because the whole cat-back was cut off as one-piece from another Mark, and it didn't adapt to my Mark perfectly.

Anyway, I'm ready for something new. I'm gonna go for a single 2in/2out Magnaflow. I'm gonna buy it right now. I hope my exhaust guy has some nice tips in stock.

*edit: Anyone know the model number?

Its down to these:

Magnaflow. Almost exact stock tip specs. $50 for the pair

Something a little sportier. Usually duals are expensive, these are very cheap. $70 for the pair

:q:q:q:q, the dual is 6" long... definitely too big for the gen 1 bumper cutouts. Oh well. Choice #1 !

Or these:

18" long for the straight pipe look, 4" outlet looks mean in the cutouts. Definitely not stock looking. $80 for the pair. I can get 3.5" outlets for like $70

Some opinions please !?
