led dome light

You bought a set from ebay or v-leds?

Yes, the LEDs stay on very very dim because there is very small voltage still remaining in the wire after you turn them off, enough to light them up very dim, but not enough to light up incandescent bulbs. For the interior, put a resistor in parallel to get rid of it. Since they are all on the same circuit, the interiors, only one is needed. in any of the bulb harnesses. I put a 4100ohm resistor for the interior, one 100 I believe, on each of the puddles but not in the license plate lights, so only those stay on very dim.

I think led's are worth it. They clean up the inside and outside a lot. It's so crisp and nice, I will not go back to yellow light anymore, LED's ftw

mine go off completely after about 30 minutes to an hour

mine used to go off completely right away and then start to barely glow after the computer goes to sleep, this was fixed by placing a fairly high valued resistor on one of the bulbs like alax mentioned

i also didnt put one on the plate lights so that it always lights up the plate a little bit

i got all of mine from superbrightleds.com

so for my 01 lincoln ls so i cant just replace my old bulbs with led bulbs

so if I need a high value resistor can someone let me know what I need

all I wanted to replace right now is the front and rear dome lights plz help thank you

you dont need a resistors to make the leds work. You need the resistor if you want them to turn off completly, if not they will be on but very very very very dim. I used a 4100 ohm resistor so it wouldn't heat up at all

DONT DO IT.

IDK bout the V-Leds, but i bought a set for my lincoln. Gen 1. the dome lights, door assist lights, floors lights, trunk..you name it, it was changed. Eveything seemed to work just fine...for about 2 weeks. Then the dome lights turned into "STROBE" lights...just continously flashing when you opened the door and used the actuall dome light button, then i noticed that the door accent lights...continue to stay lit. not at full brightness, but like they still had power running to them...even after the car was off and the delayed headlight timer expired. NOT WORTH IT IMO but to each his own

yeah i noticed my license plate lights stay on too when the car is off and everything there just dim

k got it dont need anything to make the leds work

can you show me what im supposed to be getting to have both dome lights turn off
Im new to all this

yo alax i installed the backup light and mayn it looks a billion times better than stock the white looks badass. cant wait to receive the puddles white led and install thanks bro

Go to radio shack or a store that sells resistors. I dont remeber if I used a 4.1k or 4.7k ohm resistor but get something like this
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062328

Anywhere from 1000 ohm to 4700 ohm works.

Wire it like this

The reverse lights of license plate lights? No problem. Just wait until you do a ful interior LED conversion, clean clean clean.

Any of the interior lights. They are on the same circuit so you only need to do it to one.I did it on the rear passenger light since it was easier to access and work with.

ok i'll put the resistor on the rear dome light like you so now from that pic where do they wire to

Im guessing the yellow is the light bulb?

The yellow is the light bulb. The wires are the car's wire that go to the bulb. You take the screws out and the wires are exposed. This is on a gen2 though, not sure how gen1's are, but I'm guessing similar. By rear dome light do you mean the lights on each side, above both rear passengers?

ok I kinda see what your talking about.

now I thought rear dome is what you call it but its the light in the middle
there is the two one in the front with the moon roof switch and the 2 light switches and then the back one
