I have water leaking on to the back of my engine from the passenger side of the cowl. I searched and it said something about a foam seal. What does that look like? I know i can order it from tasca or ford local. Just dont know what it may look like without ordering?

Plus it has already ruined my passenger rear coil so i would like to fix it once and for all.

Any help is appreciated.

Purchased from fordpartsgiant. Around $5 plus shipping.

How does foam prevent water from leaking? :shifty: lol

I've had my seal for a few months just sitting around because I don't see how that little circle is going to fix anything. It seems moreso that it's by design.

My thoughts exactly! Lol

Mine has been sitting for a couple of months as well lol I literally just took those pics, package sealed.

Ya, mine cost around $12.... and that's with my wholesale discount @ my local dealer.

The way the water leaks on my LS is at the very back of the block. As the engine is slightly tilted backwards, it seems to be of no issue.

Looking at that picture i dont see how it will prevent the leaking. I noticed on my way back home from indianapolis. My car started show a misfire. When i got home let it sit. Few days later pulled my coils out and the two on the passenger side had water in them. When and got another set of coils and plugs and now the rain has returned. I have not changed the coils and plugs yet but i can see where the water leak is coming from.

Looks like that is for the wiper shaft of the passenger side. There's also a linear piece of foam that goes under the cowl trim on that side. The result is to channel the water that comes down the windshield to the proper drains instead of onto the back passenger side of the engine. You may not believe that this works, but it does.

is there a part # for that, Joe? I just ordered the seal that was specified in that TSB.

This is what mine looked/looks like:

As you can see I have leaks are over both sides. I put some black silicone around the cover and I think that mostly did the job. Haven't had any issues with misfires due to water in the coil wells as far as I know. But my LS has been driving like sh1t forever, so who knows :(

My coil #8 was replaced nearly three years ago, I wonder if it was damaged due to water, or maybe it was a coincidence. I also had the wiper motor gasket replaced months ago, as well as the coil covers under the warranty coverage when I saw the water draining onto the block. Things still leaked the same way, and when I showed the tech who worked on my car, he said "It's by design. Call 1-800-Ford." Suffice to say I am never going back there, but that's another story.

I haven't had any apparent issues with water or any misses yet. I should've had a look down well #8 when I swapped my coils and plugs a few weeks back..

If that is the design that is terrible. I have never had any problems until now. Coils cost to much to have that happen with the water leaking. I cant go outside to even look at it because of the rain.

Take a small section of roof flashing and put it under wiper arm shaft. Bend a lip on it and slid under the cowl to hold in place. I dont trust the seals.

Make sure the cowl that runs along the back of the engine bay, under the wipers, has all of the black plastic clips in place. If one is missing, the water leaks through the hole on the block.
