Damn, I must have done something bad cause this karma thing sucks....
Last night I was driving just a block from the McDonalds that I was stranded at with oil all on the ground. I was heading there once again for the fine dining experience.
But a block before a pot whole the size of Greyhound bus jumps right out in front of me. It was about 8 inches deep. It would not have been so bad, but the road was once concrete and then covered with blacktop. Where the whole was, everything was removed and VERY little blacktop filled in.
This crapy work resulted in a whole 8 inches deep that lead to a "step" of concrete with another small step of blacktop.
It basically was a curb!
The two officers that came up behind me did the same thing, but those larger tires did not get a snake bite like mine.
So I instantly blew my tire. One VERY loud bang. I thought I blew another ball joint. Also the wheel has a slight dent.
Since the hole was reported earlier and not taken car of the city is at fault and has to pay for repairs.
What should I ask for? I feel that TWO new tires and one new wheel with an alignment if fair. Two tire because as the Ford dealer said, the other is almost due for replacement and the difference in wear between a new and used will affect alignment. The wheel may be usable, but its bent. I located a new one for $500.00. And after an impact like this, an alignment will be needed.
Demanding too much? I dont think so. If it had not been reported earlier and neglected I would not be so demanding.
Oh and to top things off I had no spare but my roommate came with one. A repair crew was there before he was!!! The police report reflected all this, that is was reported before and was now fixed.
