I've been reading these forums for years, they are very helpful.
Always been able to fix my LS problems, but now I am stumped.
I have a 2000LS v8, 122k miles, had the usual bought with coils and plugs.
All replaced within the last 20k miles.
I now have the following conditions.
A load knock at idle coming from the passenger side and a Cyl #4 misfire code. The knock seems to be in the forward section of the upper engine.
The loud knock is reduced, but is more a loud tick, while driving.
Acceleration is good, but the miss is noticable at low RPM's.
It is exacerbated by a P0304 code that keeps returning, no matter what plugs and coils are swapped or replaced.
P0174 & P0420 codes are also present, but have been for 25k miles and didn't seem to affect drivability.
Gaskets were replace on both valve covers at 80K and no oil is present in the Spark Plug wells.
I'm thinking timing chain slap due to a failed tensioner.
