KKM or K&N Intake

Hey, just wondering if getting the KKM or K&N setups are worth it. I have an 03 LS. I put a Lingenfelter intake on the CTS-V and it enhanced the low rumbling note the engine already had. The Lincoln has a nice throaty sound between 2-3000 rpm's other than that it sounds like any other normal V8 sedan. Im more interested in show than go with intakes since they don't do a whole lot for me performance wise. Thanks for the feedback.
 
If you only want show, then save some money and go with the KKM. It will give you more rumble, I doubt there will be much rumble difference between the K&N and KKM. I bought my KKM off a fellow LVC member who purchased a K&N. He said there was some difference in performance. Maybe he'll chime in and let you know if the sound was better.
 
Just bought my kkm from LsKoncepts, bought the polished aluminum tube also. the filter assembly sounded better and increased acceleration. the tube which i put on a couple of days later, made it louder and a little quicker. Very satisfied, good fitment, no problems, and looks great.

Your best bang for the buck is the KKM True Rev Sport Induction Kit. The K&N system is a good system but for over a $100 more stick with the KKM kits.

I also have the system that Ken sales and I absolutely love it. Had to take it off once for warranty work and car felt like a slug compared to when I put it back on. If you could feel a real difference between the KKM and the K&N, it would shock the living heck out of me. The K&N filters might be a little thinner, and would allow a little more air flow thru, but I'd rather have the comfort of knowing I had a little more filtration between all the dust outside and all the inner components of my engine.

Yep, it does, and that's probably where it gets most of its advantage over the KKM. On the other hand, I'm sure a person of even modest mechanical skill could craft a heat shield for far less than $100...

That is true. I sell both on the LSK website and sell much more KKM units than the K&N version. Since no one has hard proof that one is better than the other I'd say save your money and make your own heat shield.

I have had both. The KKM will give you the sound but the K&N will give you the sound and looks better (IMHOP)..

It looks like the only thing different w/ the K&N and the KKM being the heat shield.. why doesn't someone just copy the heat shield design (I would but don't own the K&N) and just modify it to fit the KKM. Probably the only difference would be the adapter the KKM has
 
Actually the K&N replaces the entire intake and the KKM only replaces the air box. With the K&N it removes the flex tube as well as the intake noise baffles. The K&N is actually louder than the KKM (I have had both on my car)

You can clearly see the difference. So the extra $100 buys more than just the heat shield...
 
KKM Tru-Rev Sport Intake

FNG here. Great site. If I get a Xmas bonus this year, I'll be buying the Magna Flow cat-back on my 2000 LS V8. Looking at the CAIs on the LSKoncepts site, I noticed the K & N Typhoon system is for 03+. Do they make one for a 2000? Secondly, nice pics of the stainless tube posted on this string. Is that a that a KKM Tru-Rev Sport Intake attached to the end of the intake tube? Since the cat-back is going to set me back a bit, can I just install the sport intake ($89), then add the intake tube later? Has anyone just installed the sport intake only? Thanks folks, my wife's LS is about to be "reconfigured". Pete
 
pghpete22, Unfortunetly, the V8 intake system was resdesigned. Unlike Kellyo's who's intake comes out of the front right (if your looking at the picture). your's (as well as mine) intake comes out of the back left and then loops around engine to have the filter in the front left like decibel has displayed.

LSKoncepts.com is DEFINETLY the way to go! Ken has been a God-send in the area of accesories.

One other guy you'll chime in on (not to cut out all the other awesome help and info) is QuikLS. If something can be done to the LS, he's already done it, written it up, and posted it. He's Mr. Modification.

I understand about the difference in the routing of the tubes. It looks like I can still install a KKM Tru-Rev Sport Intake though can't I?

You can install the KKM kit in your 2000 LS. If you decide to get one make sure you get the 00-02 Kit. The 03-06 kit will not fit your LS.
 
Thanks everyone, Ken, youll probably be getting an order from me in the coming months, you seem pretty reputable and ive only seen some unjust negative ramblings from idiots about you. Ill probably just go all out and get then K&N because i know them a little better. And by the way anyone from the Philadelphia area, i'd advise you not to go to Pacifico to buy any of your cars, i am having so many problems with them its unbeleivable but i wont bore you guys with that. Ill have to get some pics of the LS up. She is a beaut. By the way i know this probably sounds retarded but since im new here what does "IMHO" stand for?
 
I though IMHO meant "In My Humble Opinion" Yeah don't listen to the other idiots. Ken will treat you right or work to make it right.
