Keypad removal

I have a 04 LS and wish to replace the entry keypad. I took the door panel off and was unable to reach the keypad (or even determine how to reach that high into the door). Has anyone removed one of these before?

In looking at the replacement, and i dont see any screws or retaining clips, but i dont believe it could be popped off from the outside.

I haven't removed the keypad on an LS before, but I have on a Grand Marquis. On that there was a metal "u" shaped clip at one end of the keypad, on the inside of the door. You slide/pull the clip off, then that side of the keypad can be pulled out of the door, from the outside. After that, slide it over a little and tilt it completely out. Of course, you have to disconnect the wiring first.

The on-line manual for the 06 probably gives the correct details.

it pops off from the outside, i forget which side comes out first but it does come off from the outside. just gently slide a flat head screwdriver under it and try to pop it off, you should know what side to do right away from trying
