I have this key
I want THIS KEY
But it doesn't list my year. Did they change something in the car that would make the newer key unable to work with my 02? Cuz if not im gonna order me a few of the newer style and an extra remote. I dont have a spare right now, and I hate this ugly key.
Anybody know why/IF they're different?

ew your key is ugly, i have the one you want but i'm not really sure if it will work with your car. if no one on the forums knows the answer i'm sure a locksmith can answer your question.

i like the one you have. the other one looks like it came out of a pawn shop

remember since you only have 1 key you will have to take the car to the dealer and pay $50-$100 to get your second key programmed. after that you can program them yourself, but you have to have two keys first.

Yeah I know. Guess Ill have to ask about that when I pick up my VCG's later.
What Id like to do is get all new keys, and delete the old keys from the system so any spares that are floating around wont work anymore, so ill have to take it to Lincoln anyway.

Here's the procedure when/if you get two programmed keys to make additional:

1. Insert the first programmed ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder and turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN (maintain the ignition switch in RUN for one second).

2. Turn the ignition switch to OFF and remove the first key from the ignition lock cylinder.

3. Within five seconds of turning the ignition switch to OFF, insert the second programmed ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder and turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN (maintain the ignition switch in RUN for one second).

4. Within five seconds of turning the ignition switch to RUN, turn the ignition switch to OFF and remove the second key from the ignition lock cylinder.

5. Within 10 seconds of turning the ignition lock cylinder to OFF, insert the unprogrammed ignition key (new key) into the ignition lock cylinder and turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN (maintain the ignition switch in RUN for one second).

6. If it is desired to program additional key(s), repeat the key programming procedure from the beginning.

As for deleting the old codes out and get new codes.. Isn't gonna happen..

You'd need a special Ford Service Function (FSF) card to gain security access to the instrument cluster to switch/delete codes. :(

Sorry for the bad news.

The dealer will have to get security access to program the 2nd key anyhow. They can delete the old one's while they're in there....

so if you have both sets you can program a spare without the dealer? sweet. :)

Too bad I only need 2 keys. :P One for me and one spare for my lock box. Might go ahead and get 3 or so incase one gets lost so I dont have to have the dealer re-program the damn things for me again.
Thanks for the help though.
