Hello... I know this probably should go in a different area but I figured you guys would find it faster here... the previous owner of my black 97's mark viii left a key mark about 5 inches long... I was curious if you guys have any ideas of an easy way of gettin rid of it... I was thinkin of just using some dupicolor and sanding it down with some 180 grit then clear coating over it then sanding again with 3000 then polishing it... would it work?... it's pretty deep... any suggestions would be awesome!

If you can feel the scratch with your fingernail then it is too deep to buff out, and will need painted. If you have never painted anything before I highly suggest you take it to a professional. Being black, every imperfection will be magnified.

I used the Duplicolor on my Mk8, but it was on the lower part of the pass door, so it was not that noticeable. I didnt sand it down, just put it on very slow, and took my time.

use the duplicolor brush on bottle paint, universal black, just paint the scratch, let it dry, paint again, let dry, do this until the paint is higher then the surface, then wet sand it with some 2000 or 2500 until its level with the surrounding area, then buff it it with some mcquires color x and a low speed buffer you will never see it, i have done this to all 4 of my mark VIII's with outstanding results.
