Will it fit? Is it even close? I swer I saw a guy on here that did it. I think he posted a video.

if you pause the video and look at the pic when his "new setup" comes on it looks like he cut the bracing out of the hood at the back. A second gen has more hood clearance than a first gen and i had to modify a second gen hood for fitment. From what i know he has now moved on to a vortech.

roadboss did it too, i think they space the k member down and notch the hood. the hard part is getting one that fits b heads

And spacing the K-member adds a chit load of alignment issues

I am using the Cobra style hood as there is not enough clearance to run the KB unit (with intercooler). I did not lower my K member. The biggest interference is towards the front of the SC (Pulley Area), so it could be possible for some one to gin up a bubble type hood to gain the clearance. The Cobra style hood does let a ton of air flow out of the engine compartment.

I was lookin for underhood shots. I have seen that one.
Hes running C heads as well. Not just your typical cut and slap together setup like mine.

As for fitting the B head 1.7, 2.1 or 2.2 under a Gen 1 hood, aint gonna happen unless you do it wrong. You have to notch the hood AND drop the k-member doun almost 1". Dropping the k-member down that much will cause MASSIVE negative camber and toe out when the suspension compresses. These cars have a fairly large camber swing as is, I wouldnt want to enhance that by screwing with the geometry.

Really on a first gen I think a centri with intercooler would be the easiest install. Twin screws are killer, I love mine, but the heat is terriable and they dont make an intercooler for B headed versions. Roadboss has the better setup and if I were to do it all over again thats what I would do, swap C heads on there.

A guy I know just got an ENTIRE 03/04 setup with intercooler, Eaton, timing cover, bridge pullys and all for $1200! Another $300 for some 99/01 C heads and if you have the skill then you have a bad ass setup for WAY under $2000.

Will still need a cowl hood though.

yes, the cowl hoods will let you clear a cobra intake or a blower in a first gen.
