Ok, so I have been wondering why the hell my idle is getting hard and my MPG's just suck. I have been wondering this since I got the K&N filter adapter a while back. I took care of the filter cleaning it and lubing it with the filter oil. Today I said the hell with this thing and I got one of those cheap APC filters till I could get around to doing some home work and ordering a good one.

Well my MPGs went up from 12-15 to a steady 18.0 in town no matter how I put my foot in it! On the highway it went up over 24! Idle is smooth as can be!

The hell with K&N, and I thought APC was rice garbage ( still do ). I cant wait till I see what happens when I buy a decent filter or the KKM True Rev.

Thats all!

It might be excessive oil from filter fouling up maf meter, I start with stock filter and removed the snorkel piece from the front of the box-some noise no real performance felt mpg went up about 1mile or so - later did the apc cone filter large performance difference felt much louder and response was great mpg went to 19 to 19.9 combined depending how happy my right foot is

The APC needs oil also.

Plus, if it is a fouled MAF why did everything change after I removed the filter rather than the MAF. The MAF is clean. I keep MAF cleaner on hand since dealing with filters that require oil. Its a must!:)

I have a regular old Spectre filter. No oil or anything. I went from 15 or 16 city to 17! lol. I beat the piss of of my car :( I used to get only like 12 or 13 in the Winter. Turn off the Traction control and have a good time :D

i went from a k&n to a green filter and my mpg went up from 14 to 18

Yes apc has oil but it was preoiled you said - I took care of the filter cleaning it and lubing it with the filter oil. - maybe you were a little zealous with the oil

As I said, I took care of the filter and I didnt over lube it as well as I kept my MAF clean. Again, how can a fouled MAF fix itself by replacing the filter and not the MAF itself?

I never said anything about pr-elubed anything.

can u clean and reuse the apc, green or spectre filters? i run the kn cone just because i was able to get it in a custom size to fit the spot in front of my tire, and it can be cleaned which it needs fairly often since its so low to the ground. i never really looked into any others. i would like to upgrade if possible

lol my kkm works great, anyone ever notice the carbon fiber ones they sell on ebay? never heard of em til I saw

The KKM is the exact same as this rice APC but it doesn't require oil so thats one Im contemplating next.

unfortunatly they dont make those that will will fit in the space behind my foglight where my filter is, so i will just stick with my kn is guess. its a tight spot but works freakin awesome. i just have to clean alot, just did it today after drivin 8 hour round trip yesterday. sooo many bugs, i clean it every month or so.

I've only had to clean my KKM filter every 3000-5000 miles which still has been very very clean except for a few pollen seeds getting on the filter..other than that the filter and MAF have been pretty clean :-D

I use filter cleaner and air compressor for cleaning

What is the best intake to improve fuel economy?

on that note.... what are the most cost effective upgrades to improve MPG's?

i get 19 average from my V8. When it rains i get 20-21 average. What could be the reason for that?
