Who on here has tried these on their LS? I'm wondering if these do actually improve performance or mpg or are they just snake oil like so many after market products.

Obviously I wouldn't expect much from putting in a different air filter, but if it does improve performance slightly I'm getting one.

No flame. Just familiarize yourself with the search function and dig in on older threads.

Basically put it won't add any horse power, it will just free up restricted horspower that the engine already has. Th stock set up i more restrictive than say a k&n or kkm or what have you. Any basic engine rules are more air more power.

They are worth the money for just the fact of never buying a filter again and the fact they sound nice. They can show a bit more power on the dyno, maybe 3-6 but they are nice

I searched "K&N" and got no results then I searched "air filter" and got about a million and a half pages. I knew someone had to have covered this before.

So do any of you guys use a K&N filter?

Yes, I have the same setup I posted the link to. A bit pricey but oh well. You can probably find similar setups cheaper and I know some guys aren't too keen on an oiled filter with a maf sensor but I haven't had any problems.

Hmm I don't really want to buy and install that setup. Do you think the filter by itself would do anything?

Pretty sure you could buy a K&N cone filter and an adaptor(?) and then cut off the intake resonator then patch up the whole and get similar results.

I hated how quiet the LS is from the factory. sounds like a 4 cylinder.

Its just a washable filter.

It will work the same way and you will still be restricted. Get the K&N you wont regret it.

The first mod I ever did was cutting the air box. Can't really screw it up once you take it out and look how you need to cut it. I used a jigsaw and was able to do it in about 5 minutes. I used a K&N drop in like the one you posted a link to and really noticed no difference at all. Then I decided to get the K&N intake tube with the cone filter and heat shield (like the link I posted) and definitely noticed a difference. Either way, the K&N drop in with a cut air box is better than nothing...plus, you don't have to buy an air filter again.

In fact, I think I still have my K&N drop in filter laying around somewhere...

I have one in my LS .. easy to install and clean !! If i can do it, being a women, hell anyone can do it !! err that sounds sooo bad :D

Very easy to install, but if you want to try the drop in K&N filter, I have my old one that I used for 2 weeks and bought the K&N cone intake so I took the drop in out.

5 dollar + shipping.

HELL OF DEAL!!! Buy it. And we all know Alax takes care of his possesions.
