K&N air filter worth the $ over oem?

How about MPF (miles per filter)? In that respect it is, because you can just wash it, re-oil it and never buy another one.
 
K&N doesn't make any claim that the filters will increase fuel efficiency. On K&N's testimonial page some users have seen an increase in fuel economy but results vary from car to car. You can view the testomonials here:

However, the biggest advantages are power increase and never having to buy a replacement filter again.
 
Instead of throwing out a perfectly good stock air filter, just wait until it needs replacing. That's when you get the K&N or equal.
