Hi,

I just purchased an 01 LS off eBay from a dealer in TX. The first owner lived in Louisiana and drove it for 5 years the next owner put about 22 thousand miles on it in a year!

I probably paid a bit much for it but the interior is in great condition and I needed the shipping to be in the price of the car. I just hope the transmission is ok. I've been reading a lot about the transmission problems early LSs were having. Think I should have passed on it for a different LS?

I had a few questions about the LS in general.

I'm not too hot on the color, of course I wanted a black, silver or white LS. Anybody ever get theirs painted? If so how much did you pay?

252 HP seems a bit low for that engine. What would you say is the cheapest mod to get more power out of it without doing any major work(supercharger, turbo)? Does a CAI really make a difference? Should one just pay the extra money and get a cat-back installed first? Is the engine HP capped by the computer?

Is there any way to take the decals ("Lincoln", "LS", "V8") off the brakelights without messing up the plastic?

Oh and in Utah we are required to have both front and back license plates. :( I really dont want to screw anything into the front bumper. Any suggestions. I guess I could just keep the plate in the window. Dumb question I know. I'm just really bummed about that.

Any help is greatly appreciated thanks!

Looks very clean, especially inside. you need a new front passenger lower window trim, it's popped out.

edit: Lincoln has its front license plate braket, if yours won't have it you can buy one from the dealer probably for around $20, you don't even need scrues to attach it. It clips on and holds pretty well, there is a place for bolts, but you don't really need em if don't wanna mess up the bumper.

I have mine off, but I put it one once in a while when I drive in an area where I know police pulls over for plates.

Both the CAI and Cat-back will improve power. A SCT tune will also and then you have completed the basic 3 mods for the LS without getting to involved. Well worth the money...really wake it up. I did the cat-back first, then intake, then tune. Order doesn't really matter but if the budget allows just get all 3 and be done. Gets it to about 290-300HP IMO.

Cool, cost is somewhat of an issue. I was thinking of going cat first then intake also.

For the plate, you can get a generic backer from your fav auto parts store, then attach it with zip ties. I added a nice frame afterwards, mildly bent to follow the contour of the front end. Then, if your bumper has the holes, fill them with some plugs.

Torrie tuned my car. Best money I ever spent on a performance mod. I have a CAI also which I got first. CAI didnt really make much differance, but the tune $440 I think was worth every penny and more.

Thanks for all the replies.

I dont think it was a flood car. It's not on a salvage title and the car was driven for a good 8 months after the floods.

I never thought about coming here until after I purchased it, actually I really didnt know about the forum until then either. I wish I would have though. Oh well, sh!t happens.

Thanks again!
