Hi everyone,

Right up front, I doubt I can contribute anything worthwhile, when I used to wrench on cars they had points and condenser and after installing a cam and headers we had to drill .060 holes in the throttle plates because the idle circuits were to small...however, I have a couple of questions on my 05 ls v8, sometimes under light throttle about 40-65 mph the car has a very very slight shudder, the dealer can't seem to find anything (3 visits) and sometimes I even ask myself if it's doing it at all, that's how mild it is, any thoughts? second, is there something I can do to reduce the interior road noise? for me quieter is better. thanks for any help or advice.

Do a search on coils;)

Road noise? get a quieter set of tires.

thanks for the info. the car had Michelins and now has Continentals on it, not much difference either way. I'll have to check out the sound damping material, thanks

You might have a coil problem and not br throwing codes - Ford allows a given threshold of misfires per rpm - the only way to catch bad coil before throwing codes is to stress test individual coils with an oscilloscope

+1

the lincoln should be very quiet unless you got crap tires...I'm going for Kumho as my next set :-D

It's coils that are on their way out, but not dead enough to trigger a check engine light. I would just wait it out because I believe the 05s are covered under the same 10 year/100,000 mile extended warranty for coils, valve cover gaskets and plugs that the 03/04s are. So you can bring it to the dealer and they'll fix or replace whatever is wrong.

Could be your tranny if your sitting at 100k miles or so. Im lucky enough to have my coils AND tranny start dying at the same time! :D

Hey, thanks again for the info, the dealer replaced two coils 2 months ago when it had a real noticeable mis under light load, unfortunately they charged me about 100.00 maybe just the labor? If the coils go I'm ok with that, I'm more concerned if it's the tranny issue, the car only has 50k and when I bought it I purchased a separate extended warranty. I'll have to talk to them again about stressing the coils now that I've learned a few things. thanks again.

No point in repeating what others have already stated.

:W to :V :Beer

Lebanon where? Any plans for your LS?

Lebanon Ct, nice place for us. plans?....probably not, I wouldn't mind firmer shifts, but don't that's doable w/o messing something else up. I also wouldn't mind a exhaust that behaved like the intake side, quite when you drive, nice sound when you stretch your leg, but I bet that would also be hard to find..... and I want to make sure I don't mess up the warranty.
