Just for conversations sake.
I understand why people convert to coils..but I think every mark 8 owner owes it to themselves to have the experience of a properly functioning air ride, most only get the cars that already have issues.
Then they ignore the issues because "the car will pump itself back up" when started, not realizing the pump is running itself to death while the car is driving.
Then.. when the system completely craps.. it's ALOT of money to get back into operational status...
So dont get me wrong, I understand WHY cars get converted.
But.. My car that I put almost 500,000 miles on.
the orignal bags were replaced at or about 250K the original compressor was replaced at about 175K {because I ignored leaking bags and SMOKED IT)
at 480K I was getting some what I would call minor leaks, sometiems the car would leak down, sometimes it wouldn't.. I knew I needed to revist the air bags....then bam the car got stolen and "solved that problem".
With that "NOVEL" being said.
250K on original bags
1 compressor
230K later it needed bags again.
that is an acceptable failure rate IMHO.... and again I think every Mark 8 owner owes it to themselves to "give air ride a chance".
