my friend needed to get rid of it because of parking reasons and had to many cars, its 1993 with 113k miles. paid $500 yes five hundred =). Runs great just one problem is when it sits over night the front slams to the ground, i'm doing my own reseach to figure out what it is, and after a minute or so check air ride warning, eh no biggie... just wanted to intro myself heres some pics

Looks like a really nice car but your gonna hate the next part i am going to tell you. You have an air bag leak. If you want to replace it with air bags again, It will cost you 350 in parts. Or you can go for coils and forget about the air bags for life

All of you guys suck lol. I think all of you guys live in either Jersey or Florida, but yeah you are real close to LMS, once you tackle the air ride problem look into them for the go fast goodies.

Ive got the chrome above the grille if you want it and a decent grille too pm me if you are intrested. I also have front bags that dont leak but i think the cartridge in them is shot because it drives kinda rough over bumps, but that could be the front ball joints too.

Nice. =) My friend got a Mark VIII last three weeks ago for $500 too. But yeah it's the air bag, his leaks too, imo I'd just switch over to coils.

Just say no to coil springs!
IMHO!!!

If you want a coil spring car they are ALL OVER Ebay, seems they get sold shortly after the conversion in many cases...

just a heads up/tip.. and again..my opinion is.."replace air bags with air bags".

Spoken like a true MarkVIII realist, I agree you will regret it if you do.

Just for conversations sake.

I understand why people convert to coils..but I think every mark 8 owner owes it to themselves to have the experience of a properly functioning air ride, most only get the cars that already have issues.

Then they ignore the issues because "the car will pump itself back up" when started, not realizing the pump is running itself to death while the car is driving.

Then.. when the system completely craps.. it's ALOT of money to get back into operational status...

So dont get me wrong, I understand WHY cars get converted.

But.. My car that I put almost 500,000 miles on.
the orignal bags were replaced at or about 250K the original compressor was replaced at about 175K {because I ignored leaking bags and SMOKED IT)

at 480K I was getting some what I would call minor leaks, sometiems the car would leak down, sometimes it wouldn't.. I knew I needed to revist the air bags....then bam the car got stolen and "solved that problem".

With that "NOVEL" being said.
250K on original bags
1 compressor
230K later it needed bags again.

that is an acceptable failure rate IMHO.... and again I think every Mark 8 owner owes it to themselves to "give air ride a chance".

and I think it's funny that the "ebay coil spring cars" speak of the conversion as being a "PLUS" when IMHO it knocks a grand off the value right off the top..

Considering these are 1500-2500 dollar cars, knocking a grand off the value is substantial.
