just bought a 2005 lincoln LS. what is this?

Which engine do you have (post a picture)?

(I assume it is a base V8 sport.)

it has the 3.9 V8.

If it's a gen II V8, then it's a sport. It could also be a premium sport (wood on part of the steering wheel), but I doubt there were any of those without moon roofs.

It's a 2005 so it's a gen 2...

Oddball green with tan interior. Heated and cooled seats, SST, normal stuff.

Not all gen IIs had heated/cooled seats.

2000-2002 = Gen I
2003-2006 = Gen II

Thanks a ton guys!!!

Next question, ive searched but havent found a thread about installing a double din receiver in a 2005. Is there a good one?

well there has been one on the first page for a better part of a week now, it even has "Double din installation" in the title. its pretty complete and even though its on a 1st gen, 95% is the exact same and the minor differences are easy see and do (really only the first panel that comes off and the shape of the plug...)

Not on the console, but everywhere else, plus moonroof.

Okay. I really can't see the moonroof in the exterior picture that you posted.
I'm a little confused about the double din question too. You already have an aftermarket double din. Are you just wanting to swap it for something else? If so, then almost all of the work has already been done for you.

Agreed is this guy trolling or what? The photos of the car in the photobucket links he provided definitely show the car not having a moonroof or a double din..

That was why i asked which thread was best to follow. I didnt know that the 2002 was the same as the 2005. Plus ive read threads here that said there are 3 or 4 different stereo systems in these cars. So it doesnt matter which system i have?

I guess it makes sense that the premium sport would have the wood on the shifter and wheel while the regular sport would be leather. I thought the '06's were the only thing to get the silver dash parts (other than the center stack), the earlier ones were either wood grain or black.

What's the link to the VIN decoder?

My 04 has the "silver" dash parts.
I'll have to look up the VIN link.

I thought I was on topic here. We were identifying LS types, right?

Didn't mean to scramble your analysis, joe.

Well, the 02 is different than the 05 (over 500 changes), but it is pretty similar in terms of the radio. You will want the silver double din adapter instead of the black one. The wiring harnesses that you need are different, and removal is the lower trim is a little different.
