can a personal computer be hooked up to the LS?? through the plug to scan codes?? if not what could it be hooked up to? just wondering. if any of this is possible. is it possible on a first year 2000 ls

Among other packages, Quik uses AutoEnginuity's ScanTool ( http://www.autoenginuity.com/ ).

right - the PC cannot interface directly with the car's systems - you need an interface cable (which turns ODBII into serial) - and then a software package to decode the serial stream into meaningful data.

do a search on autoenginuity or scantool - you'll see a bunch of info on it.
