just a few problems

alright, on my car when you hit the brakes, the abs light comes on, and the red brake light comes on. when you hit the e-brake no lights come on, they only come on when you hit the brakes to stop for a light or something in a hurry. we went to pick up my friends mom at work, and the motor started to act funny. the idel went crazy on me. on the way home, i put the car in park a couple of times at stops, and it runs fine. other than that, everything is working fine, anyone know what might be wrong with my car? ill keep looking for problems, its fun NOT, but it has to be done. :L

What kind of car? What year? How come it's not in your photo garage?



Do you feel the pedal pulsing, falling, then rising, and a clicking sound? This indicates your ABS is in operation.

Brake pedal feel normal?

well its a 1988 lincoln mark VII bill blass, and from reading others posts, i cleaned some stuff mainly the trottle body, and it is running much better. i also found out that there was four spark plugs that wernt getting a very good spark, so i fixed that. the brakes... the master is going out, because every time that i hit the peddle, the pump kicks on right away. the abs light comes on every time also. ill get pics later. it is on cardomain.com though.

It isn't the master cylinder that is going out, it is the accumulator. The first thing to do is flush the entire system with new fluid; water will destroy the brake system.

alright heres what it dose. with the key on, you can push the peddle down and it gose three or four inches, and then it stops. it starts pumping its self, and it dosnt stop untill it hits the floor. the check abs light comes on, and when ur dirving down the road, and you step on the brake, the front left tire locks up. there has also been times when if you step on the gas too hard, and spill just a little bit, the abs light will come on and stay on untill you shut the car off. i fixed the motor, it was just dirty. lots of brake cleaner fixed that problem.
