The transmission shop finally got my JMOD 1998 era tranny complete and in my 1994. When roadtesting, it ran like a rapped ape right up unitl the RPM gauge stopped working and everything went to hell in a hand bAsket. Does this problem sound familar to anyone? Would it be something as simple as bad connections on the transmission electrical wiring or does some other evil gremlin lurk in the shadows? This car has sat for at least a year before I got it and all I ever drove it was up onto a trailer and around the block when I got it home to determine the old transmission was junk.

okay...I passed on the descrtiption requirements to the mechanic and he is going to reroad test the vehicle taking careful notes on what happens. I thought there might be some connection between the lack of rpm and lack of performance. Thank-you for you more knowledge request. It seems my analogies didn't have quite the descriptive effect I was looking for. The shifting went all out of synch would be a better way to put it. We dids use tyhe original vaLVE BODY so there shouldn't be any issues there that would adversely affect the EEC. I thought the operating system of all mark VIII's was the same (1993-19987) being star II OBD I so it wouldn't matter even if I had used the later type valve body

The valve bodies need not have been swapped.

Mandatory stuff:
The MLPS, and TCC solenoid from the '94 model should continue to be used in your '94 car. The rest of the electronics should work fine in either model year.

Also be sure to either swap the wires from inside the '94 transmission to the '98 transmission...

or...

re-pin the large white bulkhead connector to work with the black PCB that came with the '98 valve body.
