JL audio and sub upgrade

Hey all. need opinions. Was thinking about replacing my factory subs with a single JL Audio 12w3 boxed and a Slash series JL 300 watt 4 channel amp to drive all the speakers. Already have ab excellent head unit. The Eclipse AVN 5495. This is a very reputable shop and he guarantees the stock speakers wont be drowned out by the new sub and Ill get much better clarity and separation.Trunk space is pretty valuable for me hence the single boxed sub. OPinions?

Are you planning on running that your w3 off the 300 watt amp? If thats the case then I wouldn't be to woried about the sub overpowering your speakers. If it does you can always adjust some settings on your HU to compensate the loss/gain in bass. As for the stock speakers, they aren't bad and I believe they run off a small amp so you will definitly tell a difference, but you can pickup new speakers for 100 a pair so it isnt that expensive if you were unhappy with the stock ones. If you wanted to go that route in replacing your speakers look into a good pair of components for the front and you should be fine, although you could replace the rest but some people say its not needed, and some swear by it.

play with the head unit equalizing and changing the tune to your preference. you can easily tune it to drown out the speakers or easily tune it to drown out the sub if u want. i was in the same situation as u except im hooked up to the stock headunit so my sub is wired up hi output. i think you'll be satisfied with what u are going to do

If you are planning on using your stock speakers, they will not handle the slash power output of 75w/ch.

The JL Slash series amps put out true power. They are not overrated, nor are they underrated. 75w each channel.

Your stock speakers are probably around 15w max. I would be very careful about this.

I would personally upgrade the speakers at the time of this purchase. Forget about the sub for the time being. Get good speakers in first, then power with the Slash amp, then add a sub and another slash amp (maybe the 500/1) for the sub.

That is my suggestion. Sooner or later you will be buying new speakers. More than likely sooner than later.
