I had a ls v8. totaled it out. shopping for a replacement I drove a s-type today. seemed like a piece of duke compared to old ls. has anyone else driven both? is there really a major difference in the two?

It's not like there is just one S-type. Which did you drive? The gen I 3.0?, the gen I 4.0, the gen II 3.0, the gen II 4.2, the gen II 4.2 R (supercharged)?
Depending on which flavor of LS you had, some of those were slower, and at least one is much faster.

the type s 2002 version shares a lot of parts with the ls , it has 277 horsepower and the ls has 280, not so far off, probably the trans is different though which makes it feel different

The 1st gen V8 has 252 horsepower......

I wanted a Jag S when they first came out. I thought it was a nice blend of old and new. And, I liked the dashboard.

But, since we were replacing my wife's 89 TownCar, it was to be her car, and she didn't go for the older style.
