Hey guys, today was pretty cool.....i woke up at 3pm, caught an hour of CSI Vegas, then decided to leave my Man Cave to grab a bagel and coffee. God I love my days off lol haha.

I'm driving along, and to the right of me I see a early 90's stang merge onto this street. It had Weld drag wheels and skinny's up front. Sounded stock. This guy must of heard my straight piped LSC and wanted to race. He caught up to me about a mile up the road, and alongside me he said "that sounds good, how much money did you sink into it.?". I told him it was stock, which it is besides the cut off mufflers and welded straight pipe etc.

We then slowly got on it accelerating normally from a stop up till 10-15mph or so. He then yelled "lets hit it!!!", and we did. I stuck with him till 65 or so, then we stopped, 55mph street so we didn't go crazy.

Anyway we were both neck and neck, although he chirped 2nd HARD!!! He took off before I could ask if he was stock or not.

It looked like a 90 or so Stang, was he stock? It felt good to stick with a 0-60 car like a Stang, but i'm guessing if we jumped from a stop, he would have launched the HELL outta me lol.:(

Stock for stock from what I have seen a first gen Mark will hang with 5spd 302s from a roll just fine... Auto 302s usually lose.

Ive had a hard time keeping up with my Mark 8 when my brother was driving it and i was in my 2002 Mustang GT 5 speed. The GT had a K&N CAI, Flows and a few suspention mods.

I beat all 2v Stangs all the time. Dont matter if its modular or pushrod. Yes our cars are big and heavy but donnt tell the car as it obviously dont know that.

5.0's are like our cars, they are getting up there in years. Years ago I helped a local kid with his AOD after a local 3.8 Firebird beat him badly. The car was running low 16's at 88 in the 1/4 and I came to find out that at 130,000 miles it had the stock date coded 1988 plug wires, plugs etc. The car had never been tuned up. We changed everything out and I removed the silencer, bumped the timing to 16 degrees BTDC and adjusted to TPS voltage. I then adjusted his TV cable for firmer shifts and we headed down to Rockingham.
The car (2.73 geared notch) picked up quite nicely to a 14.59 at 95.XX with me driving and doing the 1-3-1 shuffle. Those times would be very close to what my 94 ran stock.

ahhh yes....the good old AOD 1-D-1 Shuffle, the only way to have any fun in second gear....

But yes, stock on stock...the mark viii is just as fast as a stock 5.0L Mustang or damn close to as fast

ha i was rolling with mine and a kid came after me with his mod stang making all kind of noice with one look at it and my right foot went straight down well he was not happy at all about 5 cars behind me i kept waiving well he didnt get my autograph i love my mark.

his stang had some mods and he new what you had he probably done that before wanna know if your car was just as fast as others just do the silencer a k/n just that will wake up a bit you never know you might run into him again lol.

I've never been able to beat one, I can sometimes hang from a roll. I've only been up against the nice lopey sounding ones :(
