is the sleeper factor a good thing?

i love talking :q:q:q:q about racing people. after beating a RX-8, and a hopped up 67 Camaro, and some others cars, i figure i have the rights. well, theres a guy at work, with an older Ford Probe LX. he has some ugly body kit, and its painted 2 tone blue and white. he said he could whoop anything i had, and then he asked what i drove. i told him i had a Camaro Z/28 and a Mark VIII. he asked what a M8 was and i said a Lincoln. his reply; "oh, im not worried about a lincoln, tell me about ur chevy tho." then i stopped him... i was steemed! i replied "ever seen a 2 door lincoln before?" he paused. "yeh!" i said. "it has double the cylinders ur anal probe has and i wouldnt even have to turn my over drive off to cook ur ass. he hasnt brought his car to work since.

my real question is that is a sleeper factor a good thing? because when i tell people i have a lincoln, they tend to laugh in my face.

what do u guys think?

PS: random: i also hate when u tell people u have a mark VIII and they think you said Marquise.... god i get so mad.

At least in my book, a low profile can't hurt. Yah, the sleeper is a good thing. When you whip your competition, it adds to the draw drop factor.

I had a only once had a person mistake the Mark VIII what Marquise, needless to say I didn't choose not to get any parts from him.

While the sleepr factor helps at stop lights I think in the big picture it's a bad thing because it makes the car less popular.

Having a popular car helps keep it's value up and parts available from aftermarket suppliers. Sure wish those aftermarket folks would get busy with some headlight replacements!

If I wanted a popular car I would have bought a mustang. I bought my Mark because it IS a sleeper.

The sleeper factor is what I love most about my MK.
When I am driving my chevelle people expect it to be fast.
They have no clue what hit them when they get beat by a 12 second Lincoln !

sleepers are great, although when i went to get an oil change some kid i had never seen before asked me how my car had done on a dyno run this fall - never seen the kid before, he had seen pics of my car on a local racing website. Since there are almost no mark viii's here, it's a sleeper, but uncommon enough that people notice it i guess....

People ask me what car I drive so I tell them and they go OMG you drive a gramma car. I just look at them and tell them go ask this guy what it can do. The main reason I got my car is b/c its a Lincoln and no one has one in this town under 35 so far I noticed.

When I bought brake pads fron Auto Zone, they sold me pads for a Grand Marquis....must be the same guy Of course I discovered this AFTER I took the car apart.
