so I havnt driven my 91 Lincoln Mark 7 in over 2 yrs and hasnt really been driven for the past 10yrs. I am the original owner and it only has 70k original miles. Throughout the 10yrs, i would drive it a few times every 3 yrs or so. I try to maintain and take care of it the most I can, car runs and drives great but now I have the AMP light on. I put a new battery and the car ran for about 10min, I turned it off and ran some errands went back to turn it on and it wouldnt re-start. battery was already dead, obviously sounds like an alternator, but car has little miles for the alternator to guy bad, so my other idea is the voltage regulator, any ideas?

well mr. search, I wasnt able to find a situation like mine, this is not a typical question on here from what ive searched and for the 2nd time, I am NOT this other guy you guys are talking about, who are you talking about anyways?

who are you talking about anyways?

We're talking about a guy who is probably you.

Example:

So, I have a 91 Mark VII with only 75k miles. The problem with the car is that it hasn't been driven in 4 yrs. The car is still like new. So I take it out for a few days and drive it, NO problem. All of a sudden out of no where, it has a hard time shifting into 3rd and 4th. If i punch it from the start, it jumps and go and shifts and at about 40mph, it revs up and it wont shift unless i slowly tap the gas pedal and slightly give it gas, it then shifts. However, say im doing about 40mph and I punch it, it wont down shift, it will just rev up. PLEASE HELP!!

While not the same, pretty similar kind of post, huh? He used to post in the LS section too. Uncanny.

Some history!
I have a 90 Mark VII with about 178K on the clock. My first alternator lasted just over 40K then began to make noise. Second one lasted about 87K and was replaced. The third has just over 50K on it now. Voltage regular was replaced before second alternator. Second VR only lasted about 6 years and the third one is now about two and a half years old. Car is now on its 4th battery.

Of course you're not. We're just all a bunch of idiots here, I guess.

ps. Good job, 93. :D

I'm sure an admin could check to see if your IP is indeed coming from the Simi Valley area, or if it's coming from douchediese... err.. the "other" viking diesel pinhead's general area.
