Ipod Adapter Problems

Hey Everyone,

I recently installed an Axxess Wire-Tunes iPod adapter to my headunit. It's just like the PIE adapter but just another manufacturer I guess. I've been having problems with it and I was wondering if anybody has experienced anything similar with the PIE or other adapter. Basically, the doggone thing works once installed and the battery is put back on. However, as soon as the radio is turned off or the car is turned off and turned back on again, it doesn't work. The radio still shows the CD #, Track# and elapsed time but no sound comes out. Also, the iPod itself appears to be playing. The only way to make it work again is take the battery cable off again and put it back on. Then it works until the radio or car is turned back off again. Has anyone had this problem with another iPod adapter or have any suggestions. The Axxess Tech-support seems a bit baffled themselves and I thought maybe one of you guys may have had a similar problem before???

Not sure if this is your issue.....

The headuunti has to see the live adapter on as it goes through it's power cycle - it then enables the 'DJ' setting for the aux inputs. If for some reason it does not see that adapter during power cycle it will not enable the inputs.

So it may have to do with you poower to the apdater not being synced with the headunit's power timing.

Thanks for the input. That sounds somewhat like the problem. The radio is in DJ mode and everything seems to be working except for the sound. Fooling with the tech support, I've gone in and rearranged the wiring too many times now. I'm just going to fool with the battery when I want to use it. They told me to exchange the unit or get a refund but I bought the unit so long ago that I can't do that either. I should have installed it right away.

You may want to tap pin4 or pin6 that the headunit uses to power the other two external amps...

On audiophile systems, there is an 8-pin connector wired as follows:
position 1 = sub + line level signal (gray/red)
position 2 = sub - line level signal (white/red)
position 3 = shield for sub amp signal
position 4 = +12 remote power to sub amp (yellow/red)
position 5 = center channel - line level signal (gray)
position 6 = center channel + line level signal (white)
position 7 = shield for center channel signal
position 8 = +12 remote power to center channel amp (yellow)
