My wife has had an '02 LS Sport 3.9L V8, since before we got married. It has a few little hiccups here and there, but nothing too serious, anymore. But I'm finally getting around to "making it mine". I had to replace the valve cover gaskets, coils, and spark plugs thanks to the advice of the LVC forums, and had the power steering pump replaced. I'm getting ready to replace the coolant reservoir and the driver side stabilizer bar link is snapped. Also I have to pull the headliner to fix the drain tube, thanks again to the forums. The car is that beige cream color so I'm just looking for a few cosmetic changes like clear side marker lights as well. There are only a couple things I'm not sure about though.

The steering wheel right on the Lincoln emblem is caved in from when the previous owner punched the steering wheel. Now we don't have an air bag, working horn, or operational stereo buttons/cruise. Is replacing the steering wheel something that can be done myself? I'm a little nervous about the air bag.

Also, on occasion, when I get in the driver seat and it adjusts, a small amount of smoke comes up from under the seat but I can't seem to locate where it's coming from. I'm assuming it's the motor, but just curious if anybody else has run into this problem?

On a side note, I was able to order the factory maintenance manuals and have them in my posession which will help with these little projects.

cool, good luck with the mods... sounds like your clock spring went out, doubt the problems are related to punching it... pretty easy to fix... a little time consuming. there's a good write up somewhere on here.

not sure on the smoking seat.
