I'm on the hunt for a wood steering wheel. Well I found my trim code but everywhere I find a steering wheel for sale it never has the code it just gives a color. I know there is a few shades available and some are similar but since they have no codes its kind of hard to tell them for a definite match. So if anyone can direct me to a place that I can find out what the color is let me know.

Even better, is if someone can just tell me what color the code stands for. Its code 4W. I find SW and all kinds of others but not 4W.

Thank you guys.

Got a pic of your interior?

I think, only think when I took the cover off around the shifter, the part with all P R N D had a color name on it or somewhere around it. I remember seeing a color name in that area, maybe under the cover somewhere on the inside of the center console.

You might be better off calling your dealership and asking them too.

My interior is a off black. I did a search here initially to try and find help with the code and came across a thread explaining the sticker somewhere under the center console but it was torn off and all that was left behind was the fuzzy crap thats under those stickers like that.

The thing is, is that I found wheels that looked like they may have been a off black but were called dark grey then one was dark graphite and one was midnight but they look allot alike and I just cant judge by the pics you know?

If I get no where here I could make the call but I think thats kinda awkward bugging them like that.

It's their job.... the only other place I can think of seeing one but I'm not sure is the trim piece above the glove box. I had this carbon fiber looking piece there, but it might not have the right color name your looking for. Other than that... random interior parts that have the matching color might have a sticker or name on them somewhere so you can start prying and unscrewing if you want.

Chances are the wheels you are checking out are the same color. The seller just doesn't know the exact color name themselves and gives it a random name.

Actually I found it... 4W and 6W is just "black"
4E and 6E are "Espresso/Medium Light Stone"
and 4M and 6M are "Dark Ash/Medium Ash"

the "4" code is American Grain Leather Seating Surfaces (Std. on V6 Base Array)

and the "6" code is Perforated Premium Leather Seating Surfaces (Std. on V6 Premium, V8 Sport, and V8
Premium Sport Arrays)

This is for 2003's though.

PM me your email and ill send you the file I have where I found it.

So confusing....why couldn't Ford make it simple?

Black - BLK? Easy enough for me.

From the 2000 Shop manual:

4 - leather interior
3 - cloth interior

W - Midnight Black
T - Truffle
H - Medium Parchment
2 - Light Graphite (Not available in cloth interior)

:D Thanks guys that has been great help but......

:soapbox: WTF? So what about the dark graphite and dark grey!!!! :Bang

They all look so much alike with the midnight black!!!

Midnight black dont even look that midnight if you ask me!!

EDIT: could those be color codes for other years?

those other 2 colors might have been added in later years... what year is your LS?

Man, I need to proof read more often before I post!

Im constantly editing while people are replying..lol!

It is a 2000 v8 sport.

Then the colors I listed are the only ones that came from the factory. You need the midnight black color. Unless somewhere along the lines a previous owner decided to recolor all the leather.

Thanks pektel!

I doubt they did that.

Looks like the one labeled with nothing but "Black" it is!
