Interior Light Issue

Alright guys, I have done the searches on this and have read up on the 3-5 threads that have a similar issue...here is mine...

Whenever you get in and out of the car the lights will itermittently stay on or turn off (like they are supposed to) but randomly they will kick on and stay on no matter how hard I slam the door or play with the dome light kick on/off switch. They also randomly turn off after they kicked themselves on (If I manually turn them on, I can turn them off myself sometimes - otherwise they just stay on. You guys think it could be the controller on the dash that has to be replaced? I don't see anywhere on my mark where the door sensors are...:mad:

I have a 97 Mark VIII /w 101k miles

- side note, I gotta get my ball joints replaced (crazy squeaking all around the car at all times now) - any ideas on what that should run me to replace (I am not mechanically inclined to change them myself unless someone in the Jacksonville, FL area wants to help out ;) )

Any help you guys can give would be appreciated

EDIT- I did put some WD in the doors, that may have fixed it - I will update the post, but that damn squeak from the ball joints is killing me, going to get quotes tomorrow - let me know what your estimate is ;)
 
Okay, after two different sprays with the WD40, that didn't fix the problem, I got excited for nothing...however I do have another symptom...when I dim the lights almost all the way down (or all the way down) it will begin to brighten up and then fall back down to the level I dimmed the dash to. It will continuously do this while the car is moving or still...it only effects the interior lights, not the stereo or headlights...I suppose I could start with trying to replace the dimmer on the dash and go from there...just worried that I am going to come across something more expensive and pain in the butt :(

Still hoping that you guys can hook me up with some ideas on how much it costs to swap out the ball joints...;) :D
 
you also need to slam the hell out of the doors quite a few times anfter you wd (pb blaster is better) 40 it :)
