Ok I've just pulled the passenger airbag out of my parts car last night (With help from Jamie via text message, LOL thanks guy!)

And it was covered in mold on the rubber face of it from sitting out in the open since the car was creamed.

I tried to clean it up and for the most part it turned out ok, except when removing some of the mold, the gray rubber coating came off and now it's just black rubber in some spots... anyone know the official ford name for the color of gray paint used to paint the passenger side airbag?

I guess if all else fails, nows a good time to paint the interior stripe in Midnight Opal...

no such color from lincoln in a mark VIII, 93 and 94 are both opal gray, 95 and 96 was light graphite gray.

I stand corrected...I verified "opal gray" from the original factory invoice of my car.

Just a heads up. Its never a good idea to paint the airbags. If they were to deploy the paint would chip off, and possibly get in the eyes, mouth or skin of the person sitting in the seat. thats why the factory used a rubberized coating.

Hmm.. good call. Although I dont "plan" to wreck it again  since it wont be a daily. I'll only take it out on nice days or to the track. I'm going to try and find a nicer airbag before I resort to painting.
