So I replaced the stock non-alpine radio with 6-disc changer in the glove-box last weekend with a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X997 ( I know its only a single-din but saved some coin). Everything works great including the steering wheel controls (the PAC-SWC unit was an interesting install to say the least).

Now for the weird problem. Before the install the radio stayed on after turning the car off, like most modern cars. Now after the install the new radio shuts off with the vehicle. Not a huge deal, but kinda of annoying. Any thoughts? I will post some pics of the new H/U later.

search it... you need to tap into the REM(IIRC) wire to retain power with the key off... most use the wire going to the sunroof... The factory radio did this internally.

happens to all aftermarket HU

You can also use a speaker wire with an adapter. That's what I did many moons ago.

Or you can do what I do...turn the key one click counter clockwise when shutting off engine.

Works fine for me.
