Intake tube on Ebay

Put it on my brothers LS with the KKM intake. Love it! Sounds great and by the butt dyno seems a little quicker. For the price, you can't beat it. I would recommend getting some sensor RTV sealant. We had to use it on the MAF sensor, I believe. It's easy to install as well.

I've e-mailed that seller before he does have black tubing instead. But in all honesty you could probably make your own "kit" for $50 from Spectre parts.

The one piece tubed intake looks so much cleaner IMO. I've been looking for a nice way to "tube" the rest of the intake as well. It's to bad more companies don't make true intake kits for the Gen1 LS. I'd buy an Injen or AEM intake in a heartbeat if they were available.

Why dont you contact one of those companies, maybe they will make one for gen1's and you're lse could be the test car and you'll get to keep the intake they put on

I can't see the ebay link at work, but I assume it's the 2 piece insys one? He didn't have the black couplers when I odered mine so blue is what I received. I had it powder coated black, put a k&n drysock on, and made a plexiglass heatshield around it.
Was it cheap? Yes. Does it work just as well as the single piece tube thats alot more? Possibly, I'm happy that's what counts.

Don't get the plastic crap! It heats up. Dosen't keep your air cool and it gets brittle and brakes. It will also cost you twice the money to get everything you need!
I ordered my intake from "LS Koncepts". Worked out great, but it wasen't a complete kit. Just the pipes for just around $220. I would go with that deal on ebay in a heart beat. For 75 bucks! Heck yeah! And if your friends say the pipes look cheap with blue rubber...

Tell them, "That's cause they are!"

Honestly. It's a really good deal. Jump on it.
If you want to check out the pice I got, here is the link.

Thank you ALL for the imput! I think I am going to give it a shot and see how it works out. Will report when I get it done!

I was talking about Spectres aluminum intake tubing not plastic tubing. Obviously I wouldn't spend money to replace the intake with plastic pieces. The LSK intake for the Gen1 is by far the best option but also most expensive. I've already modified the filter just not the tubing yet.

Alax that's a great idea and it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot. Ill contact those companies tonight. Any other brands I should shoot and email too? Usually with those deals they prefer local but maybe with some precise measurments they'll deal with me. Let's hope that'd be great for us Gen1 owners.

unless you are going for looks your best bet is to keep the factory intake and just replace the air box with a cone filter. those aluminum tubes may look pretty but once it heats up from hot air trapped under the hood it's hurting your performance more than helping. that's aluminum is heating up faster and holding the heat a lot longer than the original plastic does. I've already wasted my money once on that because it looks cool but I won't ever do it again. just look at every K&N intake. the entire setup for the gen 1 intake is screwed up. the air has to travel all the way around the engine bay and if you have a hot aluminum pipe that It's traveling through can you imagine how hot that air is by the time it finally gets to the TB let alone the cylinders.

Very true but it does look really nice. I will note that once I added my "ram air" tube to force air into the engine bay by my filter. My MPGs went up almost 3-4mpg almost instantly.

Maybe if we re-routed the original vacuum lines so we could re-locate the filter altogether. Run it straight down into the passenger fender if possible. But I'm a wishful thinker and thats not really practical or easy I'm sure.
