It was supposed to be on october 14th befor the racing season was over, but no...only a month + late!

Anyways, these pictures are taken in the dark with a flash. thats why my engine bay looks sooo horrible lol. It looks alot better in person. plus the filter looks white, and its silver. talk about a flash!

the pipe barbs blow ass. thats all i can say. i hate those things. the easist part is making the thing. if you have all the supplies and the tubes are pre painted. should only take about an hr.

it is coated.

VHT header paint. black.

people are prolly gonna laugh, but thats good old PVC. rubber 90* elbows though.

I dont see the problem with PVC, its a true 3" I/D. It doesnt get hot like metal does. and its cheap. As far as im concerned besides weight its alot better then making an alluminum one

Ok, I couldn't tell. I thought it was metal pipes with black PVC elbows.

Honestly, as long as its functional and makes you happy I know I have no room to complain about the materials used.:)

I myself just would want something more nicer for lack of other words.:D

I agree BTW its a good job at least.

i dunno. if it was that big of a deal k&n wouldnt make black tubes.

as far as using "more nicer" things...

i dunno...have fun hooking up vaccum lines to a metal tube if you dont have a welder lol.

Lol I thought about doing this ghetto fab before I bought my aluminum tube from Ken. I also using one of the rubber plumbing elbows from Home Depot to run the intake down into the fender.

the plastic will melt... and at one point you wont be able to take the rubber elbows off the PVC....

I don't know, just thought you should know... PCV is a different plastic then normal aftermarket intakes, not rated for engine temps..

It does look really good man... i always thought about doing it to my gen 1 just never got around to it... Now that you know the lengths you might look in to a higher grade plastic say at Home depot....

what did you use to hook all the hose up to the new intake?

brass pipe barb. the vaccuum line that goes from the throttle body to the intake i replaced along time ago with a radiator hose and some clamps. the breather is cap'd and the other vaccum line is clamped onto another brass pipe barb

looks good but you should put an elbow and cut a hole so the filter is down by ground. would get more air and actual cold air. the way its setup doesnt improve performance much it just sounds like it sucking more air.

wouldnt black absorb heat making the air temp hotter? Nice job BTW

I don't think color matters in the dark under a closed hood. Now the material may absorb more heat than other materials, but plastic should absorb less than aluminum or other metals as it is less conductive of heat.

Maybe he likes to drive it with the hood off. Who knows?

Logic says dark would heat air, but the air is in the tube so little time I don't think it matters.

Only if light is shining on it. Under a closed hood with no light a white intake is just as black as a black intake.

Experiment:

Go into a bathroom with no windows. put a towel in the door crack. turn off the lights so that it is pitch black. Now hold up a white piece of paper and a black piece of paper and tell me which is which.
