Instrument cluster problem

i have a 1989 mark vii when i turn the dim switch up the tack and gas gauge stop working i have no idea why any help would be a big help.

Probably a bad dashboard ground. Look through the tech section on lincolnsonline.com That should get ya fixed up.

I'd go along with the ground ... I had that problem on my 85 VII ... Not too hard to do.

ok thank you both i just ddnt want to rip the rest of the dash out if i did not have to
