I have a question for those of you that have put the Gen I shock tower covers on your Gen 2 cars.

  • Did you also use the factory Gen 1 bracket for the driver side cover for the two upper push pins?
  • Fabricate your own bracket?
  • Installed it without the bracket?

Thanks.

I didn't use a bracket, cause the donor car I found the covers on at the junk yard didn't have one, I found the covers laying in the trunk.

I used a bolt on the main fastener location, it holds it just right and looks fine.

I remember people saying they didn't include them on the 03+ LS's to save money, but I saw a review of an 04 Tbird and it had the covers. sigh.

I used just one plastic fastener on the tower portion and it hasn't gone anywhere.

Ok, it seemed a little "flimsy" when only using the one fastener. I looked at it again last night and I may fabricate a bracket for at least one of the other mounting holes for my own satisfaction.

Thanks guys.

Just run a long black zip tie thru the two holes and the fuel injection regulator. That what I use to hold that part fo the cover and a push pin style, like the engine cover ones for the tab mount.

I definitely need some to dress up my engine bay.
I saw them on GWL's vivid red 06 and they sure did look nice!

From MAx at Five Star Ford, to the right you will see the advertisment.

where do you get these? you gotta stealem from another LS?

I just ordered them from my friendly neighborhood FLM dealer.

I spent 20 minutes searching wrecked LS's at the junk yard... not much to choose from btw.. but eventually I found them.

i took mine off when i was changing out coils on the driver side and forgot about putting it back on and now i cant find it. bummer
