As the title says I swapped my rear shocks today. It appears as if ive have the stock shocks in the car the entire time. Finally i've gotten tired of the knocking in the back. So I decided to do the swap. I read a lot of the threads that said just use the new rubber peices with the monroes and the old mounts. So the driver side mounts which I do have a picture of was not really in that bad of shape. Ended up burning it out with a torch fun stuff. However the peices wouldnt fit. What we ended up doing was tappering off one of the bushings and then just tighten the **** of the bolt.
This appears to have worked really well. Everything is in nice and secure at least thats how it appears. The ride is truely amazing with the before and after. Before when i'd hit the road paint i'd get that thunk in the trunk. well of course that is gone now too.
anyway Just wanted to say thanks to the community for giving us the info for people like me to do something simple like this. Also I wanted to ask was it a bad idea to tapper one of the bushings to make it fit better in the bell of the bracket.
Regardless of if it was a good idea or bad idea. I do plan on picking up some of the custom made brackets with proper bushings and at least reseating the shocks again.
