I have a 98 and after my gear swap I expected to see my speedo off, so I downloaded a MPH app and it's dead on. Is that right?

From what I just read on here a few days ago, the speedo gets its signal from the ABS sensors rather than the VSS in the trans. The computer on the other hand reads the VSS

speedo comes from abs sensors, vss gear is only changed if your trans is shifting way too soon, or you can have it compencated with a tune, or both, like my tune is set for 4:10 gears, because they dont make a 4:30 vss gear, if i didnt try to match the vss gear with the tune set up for that vss gear my trans would be in overdrive in 10 feet!!

ya i have 3:55s and no tune yet and it is in od in like 100yds . I can't wait to get the flash done

Yes absolutely my shift points changed. If I take off easy it's hits 1-2 almost immediately. But under WOT it seems to shift normal. Does anyone know where to get the 4.10 vss gear?

Is there an advantage in changing the vss gears over just putting it in the tune? I had heard that the vss gears for 4.10 and up are more prone to breaking because of the number of teeth.

yes they do. and its right here.

not that i know of. and they are more prone to breaking because the teeth get smaller so they can fit more on the gear.

i have a spare vss 4:10 gear i got them from driller but i cant part with it incase mine wears out, and they do lol!! you can buy them right on ebay.

So I am going 4:10 soon and having it tuned any advantage to doing the vss gear in addition to the tune?
